Indian Philosophy from the viewpoint of a Natural Scientist
Now, I'm paying my efforts on understanding India philosophy. In those studies, I asked to myself, why I ‘m charmed to Indian philosophy in this way.
In Indian philosophy and religion, the universe is believed that there is the fundamental principle. This fundamental principle is called, Brahman, Shiva, Shakti, Vishnu, Krishna, etc. Every religion has given different names of God, but they are fundamentally the same principle; Brahman =梵. Depending on the situation for humans, the fundamental principle is thought to exhibit variety of forms. In contrast, in the center of the human, there is " True Self=Atman“. Atman is same and equality to Brahman. Atman is agreed with Brahman,梵・我should be agreed.
"Our self" In everyday life, will reach to the “our true self=Atman", in meditation through yoga, chanting the mantra Om = Ohm, that is the sound of the truth of the universe, and has been promoting a real encounter with our mind. On the other hand, I've learned in physics, two of physics as a revolution in the 20th century, relativity and quantum mechanics are developed. In 1905, Albert Einstein published special theory of relativity.
In 1915-1916 more, he had announced general relativity. By this general relativity, it was expected to be revealed the fundamental principle of the universe. In his late life of 30 years, Einstein has poured heart and soul, integrating gravity and electromagnetism,
"Unified Field Theory", but this trial had ended in the death of him, unfinished.
On the other hand, in microscopic world Quantum Mechanics had been developed to describe the microscopic behavior such as electron and nucleus that cannot be explained by classical mechanics as Newton mechanics and Maxwell electromagnetism. Moreover, at present, in the internal nucleus, elementary particle physics, fundamental interactions have been observed; expect gravitational and electromagnetic forces acting between elementary particles. Moreover, theory of relativity and quantum mechanics was combined to "unified theory", but it has not been completed. In physics, there is the attempting to elucidate the relationship of time, pace, mass and energy in universe, and namely attempting to solve the fundamental principle of the universe, in Indian philosophy, there is attempting to explore the fundamental principles of the universe, Brahman. On the other side, quantum mechanics and particle physics attempts to elucidate the
microscopic phenomena, in India philosophy attempt to seek " True Self=Atman” in inner self.
Moreover, in the Rig Veda that is the pinnacle of philosophical speculation, it is said
in the hymn of Nasadiya, regarding creation of the universe that "At the beginning of the universe had been covered with darkness. Covered with empty space, but that was born by the power of heat". In modern astrophysics, the primordial universe was super hot, and ultra-dense particles were mixed in the Chaos world. The explosive expansion by the energy inherent in the chaos world, the current space has been formed.
I think these attempts are very similar. In Indian philosophy, the ultimate goal is the oneness with 梵&我, in present physics, the ultimate goal is macroscopic theory of relativity, combined with the microscopic theory of quantum mechanics to "the unified theory" has been quested.
As I‘m studying Indian philosophy, the similarity between physics and Indian philosophy, will charm to me. I think that theoretical physics, philosophy, theology and religion are seeking the same goal. This is my standpoint and the point of view, studying of Indian philosophy, Buddhism and Christianity. I will study Buddhism, Hinduism and Christianity as philosophy. If you asked my faith, I will answer that my faith is the truth of natural philosophy based on the study of natural science.
